About The Position

This is a Part-Time pool position for a Lab Coordinator in Neurodiagnostic Technology, with assignments available during the academic year. The role involves supervising and coordinating students in the lab setting, assisting faculty with competencies, evaluations, and open lab sessions. The coordinator will instruct and supervise a diverse student population, assess student performance, and maintain lab supplies and equipment. The position requires a commitment to student engagement and success, effective communication skills, and the ability to utilize technology for learning and record-keeping. The role also involves assisting in student recruitment and retention, advising students, and collaborating with colleagues and administration. Adherence to college policies and procedures is expected.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Neurodiagnostic Technology with appropriate certification in Electroencephalography (R. EEG T.), Evoked Potential (R. EP T), or Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM).
  • Current registry in Electroencephalography (R. EEG T.).
  • At least one year non-teaching work experience in the field of Neurodiagnostics, preferably with clinical preceptorship experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Familiarity with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the internet.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.
  • May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various offsite locations, including local high schools in Alvin, Danbury, Manvel and Pearland and to Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities in Richmond, Rosharon or Lake Jackson.
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire.
  • Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency."
  • All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES®) in order to be considered for a faculty position.
  • This is a security sensitive position and requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and coordination in the lab setting for students in the Neurodiagnostic Technology Program.
  • Assist NDT faculty during competencies/capstones, evaluations, and open lab.
  • Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the laboratory at various times and locations.
  • Assess students’ performance through a range of measurement activities and keeps them informed of their progress in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain lab supplies and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment including EEG machines, photic lamps, amplifiers, head boxes, electrodes, digital storage archive system, etc.
  • Organize and maintain adequate laboratory inventory to request additional supplies as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all EEG software systems and ancillary equipment in the lab.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of students by participating in health fairs, career fairs, college nights, program tours, civic functions and additional applicable events hosted by AC.
  • Advise students in academic matters or refer students to appropriate resources.
  • Utilize technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
  • Assist in the development, distribution, and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.
  • Build positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
  • Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions and departments.
  • Provide recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction, and division operations.
  • Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities.
  • Adhere to Alvin College’s policies and procedures.
  • Attend institutional and departmental meetings as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
