About The Position

The Sociology Department at St. Francis Xavier University is seeking a Part-Time Academic Instructor to teach the course SOCI 205/AQUA 202: The Oceans’ Commons and Society (3 credits) in person during the Winter 2027 academic term (January – April 2027). This position is subject to final budgetary approval. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a field or program related to the course
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Prior experience teaching this course
  • Strong teaching and communication skills
  • Commitment to contributing to the university’s priorities of equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency (required if selected for an interview)

Nice To Haves

  • PhD or ABD is preferred
