About The Position

The Department of History and American Studies at the University of North Dakota seeks a part-time instructor to teach one section of the US military History course in person on campus. The successful candidate will contribute to the History program through teaching introductory United States history (History 210: United States Military History).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of United States military history.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of History & American Indian Studies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students.
  • Master’s degree in history or relevant field by August 15, 2026.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.
  • Verification of identity and eligibility to work in the US.
  • Completion of the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience or knowledge of history pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence.
