About The Position

The Holton-Arms School Fine and Performing Arts Adjunct Program is seeking a collaborative, flexible, and enthusiastic Part-Time Flute Teacher to provide private instruction to students of all ages. The Arts Adjunct program aims to help students develop their artistic voice by deepening their skills, techniques, and musicianship in music. Lessons are typically scheduled after 3:30 PM on school days and may also be scheduled on weekends. The ideal candidate will be adept at providing differentiated instruction to students with varying skill levels and experience. A key aspect of Holton-Arms programming involves fostering competencies in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Social Emotional Learning, and Global Education, which are integral to the Arts program. Qualified candidates should be prepared to contribute to and expand upon existing work in these areas. The Arts Adjunct program strives to create an environment where students feel empowered to take risks, grow, and deepen their understanding of themselves, others, and the world.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant teaching experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in instrumental music or music education.
  • Availability in the evenings.
  • Experience teaching and working with students of all ages.
  • Passion for working in a single-gender educational environment.
  • Commitment to creating a student-centered experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Sense of humor.

  • Masters in music or professional performance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide private instruction to students of all ages in flute.
  • Offer differentiated instruction to meet the needs of students with a range of skill sets and prior experience.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and other community performances.
  • Contribute to the development of students' competencies in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Social Emotional Learning, and Global Education.
  • Foster an environment where students feel prepared to take risks, grow, and deepen their understanding of themselves, others, and their world.
