About The Position

Montgomery College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time faculty member for its Physical Therapist Assistant program at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The ideal candidate will exhibit professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to teach in an engaging manner. A primary responsibility will be visiting students weekly at assigned clinical sites. The college accepts applications on a continuous basis, with reviews based on enrollment needs. Part-time faculty are limited in the number of equivalent semester hours they can teach per semester and academic year.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Two years clinical experience in the professional discipline as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant.
  • Must hold current Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant license.
  • Must be eligible to acquire a Physical Therapist’s or Physical Therapist Assistant license in Maryland, DC and Virginia upon hire.
  • Applicants must be able to travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to visit clinical sites affiliated with the program.
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters of Science degree or higher.
  • Prior teaching experience in Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent teaching and learning coursework.
  • Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical skills in the course content.
  • For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned curriculum, answer questions, and conduct evaluations.
  • Utilize Blackboard LMS for student contact, curriculum delivery, and student assignments.
  • Facilitate student learning in laboratory, classroom, and/or clinical locations.
  • Evaluate skill performance and provide feedback to students in a timely manner to monitor mastery and progress through a course.
  • Follow guidelines from department course coordinators to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections of a course.
  • Meet established deadlines to submit student mid-term and final course grades.
  • Set up needed equipment and return to storage appropriately.
  • Demonstrate practical exercises for students.
  • Monitor students, and offer constructive feedback in their skills performance.
  • Conduct planned lab skills evaluations.
  • Utilize clinical performance software and Blackboard learning management system.
  • Conduct student evaluations at clinical affiliates.
