About The Position

Western Kentucky University (WKU) is seeking an outstanding candidate to serve as a part-time instructor of Clarinet in the Department of Music. This is a part-time, semester-by-semester appointment, with the first appointment beginning August 12, 2024, and potential for additional need in Spring 2025. Requirements

Master of Music (or related masters degree in music)
Successful private clarinet teaching experience
Professional level performance ability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching
Ability to teach students with a wide range of musical backgrounds

Responsibilities

Teaching applied clarinet
Coaching chamber music (possibility)
Involvement in area meetings, studio classes, and end-of-semester area juries
Participation in other matters pertaining to the woodwind area
Additional teaching opportunities may be available based on candidate qualifications and departmental needs
