About The Position

The School of Nursing at the University of Southern Maine invites applications to a Part-time Faculty position in the graduate nursing program to teach Advanced Psychopharmacology (NUR 680) to our cohort of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNP) in the Fall of 2026, beginning August 31, 2026. Advanced Psychopharmacology (NUR 680) - Clinical application of pharmacotherapeutic principles to psychiatric disorders across the lifespan are examined. Theory and principles of neurobiology are analyzed and applied. Drug pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, indications, contraindications, interactions, and side-effects are evaluated. Methods for evaluating efficacy of treatment and adjustment of pharmacotherapeutic regimens are emphasized. This three-credit course is listed for Wednesdays from 12-3pm in a hybrid format. There will be at least one face-to-face meeting required with students at this time either in person or virtually. Key job responsibilities include delivering content to meet pre-determined course objectives, grading and evaluating assignments and managing the course via our learning management system, Brightspace. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience, as determined by the Part-Time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA), an affiliate of the national American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union.   • Board certified PMHNP or Psychiatrist with prescriptive authority, PharmD, PhD in related field.
