About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool for General Science. This pool is used to identify potential candidates for part-time faculty assignments, including substitute and full-term class assignments, as the need arises during the academic year. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serving approximately 80,000 students across four campuses and multiple centers. The college is committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to economic development. Requirements

  • Master's degree (or higher) in the General Science Subject Area OR Master's degree (or higher) in a GS Related Area.
  • 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in the GS Subject Area (per transcript review).
  • GS Subject Area degrees include but are not limited to: Astronomy, Astrophysics, Earth Science, Earth Systems Science Planetary Science, Geology, Geoscience, Geochemistry, Geomorphology Geophysics, Paleontology, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology Climatology, Paleoclimatology, Oceanography, General Science, Physical Science.
  • GS Related Area degrees include but are not limited to: Physics, Physical Geography, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Science Teaching.
  • Demonstrated competency and course-specific requirements as outlined on the General Science Instructor Qualifications page.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • For credentials from other countries, transcripts will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
