About The Position

Vermont State University School of Nursing & Health Sciences is seeking a Part-Time faculty member to teach EMS-2010 Lab - Principles & Practices of Paramedicine I Lab for the Fall 2026 semester. This position involves approximately 53 hours for the semester, equating to 2.36 teaching workload credits. The course prepares EMTs and AEMTs for paramedic-level practice using a flipped-classroom model with intensive weekly laboratory sessions. Students will verify EMT-level skills and build upon prior knowledge to develop paramedic-level understanding of foundational concepts, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment across the lifespan, medication administration, and pharmacology. The curriculum also covers advanced knowledge and skills in the assessment and interdisciplinary management of airway, respiratory, and trauma-related conditions. Clinical and field experiences in the first semester will focus on developing these foundational skills and understanding the paramedic role.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 2 to 4 years of experience in the paramedic field or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
• Vermont Paramedic License or Vermont Registered Nurse License with EMS experience required.
• Knowledge of course content being delivered.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and flexible decision-making capabilities.
• AHA instructor status required for ACLS and PALS courses.
• Team Player with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with all levels of students as well as internal faculty and staff.
• Ability to endure considerable walking, standing, and lifting while instructing/supervising students.
• Ability to deal effectively with and represent the College to a broad range of individuals and groups within and outside of the College.
• All required immunizations must be up to date.
• Valid Vermont driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Instructing/supervising students in EMS-2010 Lab - Principles & Practices of Paramedicine I Lab.
• Verifying EMT or AEMT level skills.
• Developing paramedic-level knowledge in foundational concepts, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment, medication administration, and pharmacology.
