About The Position

National University, a veteran-founded, nonprofit institution in San Diego, California, is seeking part-time faculty for its Crime Scene Investigation & Forensics program within the School of Public Service. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to teaching excellence and serving a diverse adult student body. This role involves collaboration with the Academic Program Director and other faculty to ensure program quality, student engagement, and success.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in criminal justice, forensic science, administration of justice or other criminal justice or related forensics degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with performing crime scene investigation, forensic photography, and fingerprint analysis required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of higher education teaching adult learner experience required.
  • Experience working in Law Enforcement required.
  • Must be eligible to work in California to facilitate courses onsite at the Spectrum Campus in San Diego.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in the criminal justice or forensic science field preferred.
  • Experience in developing course content preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
  • Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.).
  • Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
  • Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
  • Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
