About The Position

Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion. The Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member Apprenticeship Instructor. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Requirements

  • Professional licensure/certification or equivalent experience in one of the specific topic area(s) of instruction within Applied Technologies & The Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education, such as: Electrical Carpentry HVAC General Remodeling Or other relevant fields related to Apprenticeship Programs, Architectural Technology, Automotive Technology, Building Trades/Construction technology, Geography & GIS, Horticulture, or Interior Design.
  • OR a combination of education, training, credentials and/or experience that meets the needs and requirements of the department.
  • Willingness to teach in non-traditional settings (off-campus, weekends, evenings, and accelerated).
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College's strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

  • As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire: Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses related to a wide range of workforce development courses and programs for students seeking to expand knowledge, attain certifications, and add in-demand skills.
  • Courses span topic areas such as: Apprenticeship Programs (IEC-Chesapeake, Local 602 Steamfitters, WANADA) Architectural Technology Automotive Technology Building Trades/Construction technology Geography & GIS Horticulture Interior Design
  • Most of our courses involve hands-on lab activities in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance.
