About The Position

This is a regular part-time, non-exempt position responsible for providing janitorial services to Tribal buildings. Duties include custodial services, grounds maintenance, and preventive and corrective physical maintenance as needed. Scheduled hours will vary weekly, depending on need and scheduling of Tribal events, and usually consist of late afternoon, evening, and weekend work. The role requires the ability to work inside and outside in varying weather conditions year-round and adapt to specific cleaning requirements of each building.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age.
Must have a valid driver's license and maintain driver's eligibility as a condition of employment.
Must be eligible to be put on the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.
Must be able to do physical manual labor that would require bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, and lifting of at least 50 pounds.
Must be able to travel between Tribal office buildings as required.
General knowledge and cleaning and maintenance of facilities.
Knowledge of safety practices with use of cleaning supplies.
Good communication skills.
Ability to complete work reports, and report facility needs and deficiencies.
Must be able to work inside and outside in varying weather conditions as are found in northern Wisconsin year-round.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
This position may require status as a designated employee during emergency or severe weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of high school diploma, HSED or GED, preferred.
Work experience as janitor, custodian, or maintenance, preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, and mirrors in bathrooms.
Sweep and mop bathroom, kitchen, office, and hallway floors.
Vacuum carpet and rug areas in offices and hallways.
Empty garbage from bathrooms, kitchens, offices, and hallways.
Check and refill soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers.
Perform routine building safety checklists.
Secure the janitors' closet by keeping it locked when not in use.
Spot check all windows daily.
Perform periodic maintenance jobs such as waxing floors and shampooing carpets as needed.
Maintain walkways, stairs, and public areas in good condition for safe passage and access, including snow and ice control and grounds maintenance.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Adapt to the specific cleaning requirements of each building.
