About The Position

The part-time custodial employee helps maintain clean Monroe County YMCA facilities by vacuuming, mopping, dusting, picking up trash, and wiping down surfaces. The role includes regular communication with the senior property director about custodial program progress and facility needs. The employee is expected to bring a positive and enthusiastic approach to assigned duties and the YMCA’s goals and philosophies.

The position is based at the Northwest Facility and works weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It reports to the Senior Custodian.

Requirements

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow chemical advisory labels.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned rooms and furnishings to a high standard, including women’s restrooms and locker rooms during normal operating hours.
• Perform duties involving repetitive motion, which may include bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, squatting, and lifting.
• Wear protective equipment appropriate to the work being performed.
• Work independently on small and large projects while managing time and resources.
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order, report needed repairs to maintenance, and keep tools, equipment, work areas, and storage spaces clean and organized.
• Attend all mandatory department meetings.
• Communicate regularly with the senior property director about custodial program progress and facility needs.
