Weekend Day Shift Housekeeping Worker
About The Position
This is an entry-level position that attends to housekeeping needs and assures a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in the residential halls where residents can live and learn, and in other assigned areas in Student Affairs. The role is responsible for maintaining established standards of cleanliness and sanitation, including student lounges, offices, lobbies, stairs, restrooms, showers, windows, and other interior spaces. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, gathering and removal of trash, snow and ice removal from entranceways and sidewalks, raking leaves and gathering trash from areas near buildings, and replenishing supplies. The position operates powered and manual cleaning equipment, reports needed equipment and building repair, and any unsafe or unusual housekeeping situations. The role is responsible for the care and handling of housekeeping supplies, equipment, and assigned keys. A willingness to learn housekeeping procedures and the ability to be trained to use housekeeping equipment is required.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors at a large university campus.
- Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must have a criminal conviction check.
- Must have a driving check with a safe driving record.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in cleaning of institutional, domestic, or commercial areas.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
