About The Position

United Ground Express is seeking a Part-Time Cross-Utilized Agent for the Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) in Colorado. This role involves a variety of customer service and operational tasks to ensure a seamless experience for passengers and efficient aircraft handling. The agent will be responsible for check-in, ticketing, baggage services, and aircraft preparation, requiring adaptability and a willingness to work in diverse conditions.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials vital for the position including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process which may include drug screen, hearing and vision check
  • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and new technologies
  • Must be able to use radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift and turn with bags and other items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to perform a variety of physical activities including Pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US state driver's license. (Suspended, expired, revoked, or denied licenses are not valid.)
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for an eight-hour shift, as well lift and handle baggage

Nice To Haves

  • May require lifting over 100 items for a single aircraft

Responsibilities

  • Greeting passengers and providing a seamless check-in and ticketing experience
  • Using appropriate reservation/ticketing software to rebook itineraries, issue boarding passes, calculate and collect any appropriate fees
  • Ensuring passenger information is processed accurately and flights are sent out on time
  • Listening to passengers and resolving their issues in accordance with company policies and procedures as a result of flight interruptions
  • Working in the Baggage Service Office to track the location of baggage and handle passenger questions
  • Maintaining composure while managing customer challenges
  • Reading and interpreting checked baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Prepping and securing the aircraft for the next flight
  • Using radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew
  • Ensuring compliance with United and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies
  • Lifting baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. throughout your shift
  • Pushing/pulling loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading operations
  • Ascending/descending jet-way stairs while carrying baggage
  • Bending/stooping and crawling to move and stack/unstack cargo in aircraft
  • Driving ground equipment such as tugs to help the plane push in/out of the gate, belt loaders to help load baggage, and bag carts to deliver baggage
  • Cleaning of the interior of the aircraft, and cleaning and servicing aircraft lavatories
  • Working outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
