About The Position

United Ground Express is seeking a Part-Time Cross-Utilized Agent to join their team. This role involves a variety of responsibilities related to passenger service, baggage handling, and aircraft preparation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with technology, able to handle physical demands, and maintain composure in challenging situations. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with potential for mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials vital for the position including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process which may include drug screen, hearing and vision check.
  • Available to work any shift; day or night, weekends, and holidays; mandatory overtime may be required based on operational need.
  • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and new technologies.
  • Must be able to use radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew.
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift and turn with bags and other items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to perform a variety of physical activities including pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US state driver's license. (Suspended, expired, revoked, or denied licenses are not valid.)

Nice To Haves

  • Physical ability to stand and walk for an eight-hour shift, as well lift and handle baggage.
  • Ability to operate a computer to enter and retrieve data.
  • Ability to utilize radio equipment for communications.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to pass all pre-screening clearances applicable to position qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting passengers and providing a seamless check-in and ticketing experience.
  • Using appropriate reservation/ticketing software to rebook itineraries, issue boarding passes, and calculate/collect fees.
  • Ensuring passenger information is processed accurately and flights depart on time.
  • Resolving passenger issues in accordance with company policies and procedures, especially during flight interruptions.
  • Working in the Baggage Service Office to track baggage and handle passenger inquiries.
  • Maintaining composure while managing customer challenges.
  • Reading and interpreting checked baggage tags and cargo labels.
  • Preparing and securing the aircraft for the next flight.
  • Using radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew.
  • Ensuring compliance with United and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies.
  • Lifting baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. throughout the shift.
  • Potentially lifting over 100 items for a single aircraft.
  • Pushing/pulling loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading operations.
  • Ascending/descending jet-way stairs while carrying baggage.
  • Bending/stooping and crawling to move and stack/unstack cargo in aircraft.
  • Driving ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts.
  • Cleaning the interior of the aircraft and servicing aircraft lavatories.
  • Working outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions.
