About The Position

Targray is seeking a Part-Time Chef for its headquarters in Kirkland, Quebec. This role involves supporting the Executive Chef by preparing weekly charitable meal donations and providing occasional coverage during the Executive Chef's planned absences. It is a permanent part-time position with a flexible schedule, typically around 4 hours per week for charity meals, with potential for up to 12 hours per week when covering for the Executive Chef. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced culinary professional looking for a light, flexible part-time schedule in a professional corporate kitchen environment, with the ability to work independently and manage basic kitchen operations during coverage periods.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience working as a Chef or in a professional kitchen environment.
  • MAPAQ certification is required.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing kitchen operations when covering for the Executive Chef.
  • Experience with food preparation, meal service, kitchen organization, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to support meal preparation in a corporate, cafeteria, catering, or restaurant environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow direction while also working independently when required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and French is an asset.
  • Flexibility to work variable part-time hours, typically ranging from approximately 4 hours per week to occasional weeks of up to approximately 12 hours, depending on operational and coverage needs.
  • Availability to provide occasional coverage during vacation periods, planned absences, and other prearranged scheduling needs.
  • Reliability, punctuality, honesty, diligence, creativity, and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly charitable meal donations in accordance with kitchen standards and operational needs.
  • Support food preparation for charity meal programs, including washing, chopping, portioning, organizing ingredients, and preparing basic dishes or meal components.
  • Provide occasional coverage for the Executive Chef during preplanned vacation days, longer vacation periods, and planned days off throughout the year.
  • Manage basic kitchen operations independently during scheduled coverage periods.
  • Support lunch service only when scheduled for coverage or when additional operational needs arise.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, freshness, presentation, and service.
  • Maintain kitchen organization, cleanliness, and sanitation standards during scheduled shifts.
  • Ensure workstations, equipment, storage areas, and cafeteria areas are clean, organized, and ready for use.
  • Follow MAPAQ food safety requirements and proper food handling procedures at all times.
  • Assist with inventory organization, stock monitoring, and communicating supply needs when required.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef and follow established kitchen procedures.
  • Provide flexibility for occasional additional hours based on operational needs.
