About The Position

This is a part-time position where the barber will work under Administration to plan and implement haircuts at SCDC Correctional/YJEC facilities for residents. The role involves providing exceptional grooming services by delivering high-quality haircuts, beard trims, and grooming. The pay grade is 49, with salary commensurate with experience and education.

Requirements

Five (5) years’ experience as a master barber
Graduation from an accredited program
Master Barber License required
Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required
Must be a resident of Shelby County (with specific exemptions for certain public safety/civil service roles not applicable to this position)

Responsibilities

Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work.
Delivers expert haircuts, shaves, and grooming services that meet the diverse needs of residents.
Maintain a clean, organized, safe and sanitary environment by disinfecting workstations and equipment according to industry standards.
Consults with residence to understand their grooming preferences and recommend suitable styles.
Trains and mentors in foundational techniques and service if required.
Keeps updated on the latest barbering trends, techniques, and products to provide innovative services.
Ensures all tools are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each use.
Tracks inventory and order supplies to ensure the area is well stocked.
Keeps detailed log of services provided.
Coordinates scheduling/appointments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
