About The Position

The Part-time Associate (Produce) supports store operations by providing excellent customer service, keeping shelves stocked with fresh food, and helping create a positive shopping experience. The associate maintains an assigned store section, may order, receive, and stock merchandise, checks pricing and product dates, prepares some perishable products for sale, and sets up promotional displays. The role also includes sanitation and cleaning, cashiering, assisting customers with purchases, basic bookkeeping, and recording lost or damaged goods and store supplies.

Requirements

Ability to read and write English and interact with the general public and co-workers.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Ability to use common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

Maintain an assigned store section and may order, receive, and stock merchandise using proper equipment.
Ensure merchandise is priced correctly and check product date codes to support proper rotation.
Stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, and refrigerated or frozen cases; prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
Set up advertising and promotional displays.
Review invoices and bills for accuracy.
Clean and maintain sanitation standards in store interior and exterior areas and the parking lot as directed by store management.
Operate a cash register; accept payments and make change or process check, charge, and debit transactions.
Process cash or credit refunds when approved by management.
Verify customer eligibility when selling alcoholic beverages.
Provide friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous customer assistance, including current store and product information.
Assist customers with loading purchases into their vehicles when requested.
Perform basic bookkeeping duties.
Record lost or damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools.
