About The Position
A loving family in the Upper East Side (10028) is seeking a dependable, engaging part-time nanny to care for their 5-year-old child starting Pre-K. The role involves picking up from school, walking home, and providing engaging companionship until parents arrive home. The family environment is warm and interactive, valuing creative, screen-free learning and engagement. The position guarantees 15 hours per week with the opportunity for additional hours on school release days and weekend babysitting.
Requirements
- Proven experience in childcare, nanny, or early childhood companion roles
- Ability to safely walk 0.7 miles (approx. 15 minutes) twice daily in urban conditions
- Punctual, trustworthy, and safety-conscious
- Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States
Nice To Haves
- Mandarin/Chinese language fluency is a plus, but not required
Responsibilities
- Safely pick up the child from school at 3:00 PM and walk home (0.7 miles / 15 minutes)
- Provide attentive care and general companionship at home until parents return at 6:00 PM
- Engage the child in age-appropriate activities and simple arts & crafts (materials provided at home)
- Drop off and pick up for after-school activities within walking distance, such as local dance classes (as schedule is finalized)
