About The Position

The Adult Education Instructor is responsible for preparing adult and young adult English Language Learners students for English language proficiency assessments, GED, post-secondary education, advanced training, and work readiness. All students will be dual enrolled in our Employment & Training program that focuses on preparing adults and young adults for work and developing Career Plans based on assessment results.

Requirements

Bachelors in Education
ESL/ESOL/EAL training
Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching adult education students

Nice To Haves

Appropriate RI Teacher Certifications preferred

Responsibilities

Content-based ESL/ESOL/EAL classroom instruction
Conducting academic & vocational assessments
Tutoring
Curriculum development
Monitoring student hours and progress
Tracking student outcomes & performance
Utilizing internet-based programs & software
Tracking distance learning
Developing alternative learning plans, per the RI compulsory attendance law
Executing a managed and rolling enrollment for adult learners
Identifying learning styles and creating a positive, differentiated learning environment
Working independently to meet program goals
Previous experience working with at risk, LD population, predominantly aged 16 to 24, as well as with older adults
Delivering virtual instruction as necessary, based on student and program needs
