About The Position

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is seeking applications for Part-time Adjunct Teaching Positions within the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. The selected candidate will teach courses either in-person or online. Eligibility to teach graduate or undergraduate courses typically requires a doctoral degree, while a master’s degree qualifies individuals to teach undergraduate courses. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed as openings become available. Compensation is determined on a per-course basis.

Requirements

Master’s or doctoral degree in sociology or a closely related discipline (for sociology positions).
Master’s or doctoral degree in sociology, anthropology, or a closely related discipline (for anthropology and criminology positions).
Master’s or doctoral degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, LGBTQ+ Studies, or a master’s or doctoral degree in a related discipline with an emphasis on gender and/or LGBTQ+ Studies (for Women’s and Gender Studies positions).
Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Submit a letter of application summarizing teaching qualifications.
Submit curriculum vitae, including professional certifications and professional experience.
Provide contact information for two individuals who can provide letters of recommendation.

Nice To Haves

Scholars from multiple academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply for Women's and Gender Studies positions due to the multi- and inter-disciplinary frameworks used in WGST courses.
A Certificate in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGST) may indicate an emphasis on gender and/or LGBTQ+ Studies for related discipline degrees.
