About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Circuit 06-2 New Port Richey. The purpose of this position is to support the effective functioning of community corrections by managing the intake and processing of offenders, ensuring accurate data entry, and maintaining comprehensive offender records. This role is crucial in enhancing public safety by interpreting and coding sentencing documents, verifying offender data, and preparing detailed criminal records. Additionally, the position aims to drive offender rehabilitation by coordinating community service activities, assisting with job placements and program assignments, and ensuring high-quality documentation. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day intake and processing of offenders placed or released on community supervision, ensuring accurate data entry into the Offender Based Information System (OBIS).
  • Interpret, code, and enter documents related to offender sentencing and monetary obligations into the CDC and OBIS databases, utilizing advanced tools like the Automated Correctional Task System and Felony Offense Coding Manual.
  • Obtain, research, interpret, and verify offender data to establish initial computer records for new commitments, and assist in coordinating initial and pre-release orientation programs.
  • Request and screen criminal record information through NCIC/FCIC and other criminal justice databases and prepare detailed prior records for new intakes.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor community service work activities, assist with job needs and program assignments, and ensure high-quality offender photographs for the department's website.
