About The Position

This is an internal promotional recruitment, only open to City of Napa full-time classified employees. The City of Napa's Parks and Recreation Services Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide array of parks and recreation areas, including parks, trails, an urban forest, and public facilities. The Parks Division is seeking applicants for one (1) opening for a Parks, Trees and Facilities Supervisor in the Trees assignment area. This position will be primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day tree related operations for the Parks Division, which may include tree pruning, removal, replacement, stump grinding, pesticide application, and management of tree related permits and projects. Other responsibilities include supervision of Parks Division 24/7 standby staffing and responding to tree related emergency events.

Requirements

Completion of coursework in urban forestry, parks and landscape maintenance, building maintenance, or other closely related field.
Two (2) years of journey level experience equivalent to a Park Maintenance Worker III at the City of Napa.
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.
Possession of a valid State of California Qualified Applicator's Certificate with certificate categories appropriate to area of assignment is required by completion of the probationary period.

Nice To Haves

Lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
Additional course work in management and supervision preferred.
Possession of a valid California Class B Driver's License with appropriate endorsements may be required based on assignment.
