About The Position

Responsible for supervising the construction and maintenance of parks structures, swimming pools, and facilities. This role involves ensuring public safety and proper operation of park structures like playground equipment, benches, fishing piers, shelters, and gazebos. The supervisor also oversees the installation of these structures, conducts daily inspections of swimming pools and their equipment, and maintains park buildings including bathrooms and community centers. Documentation of daily activities, including employee work hours, materials, and equipment used, is a key responsibility, as is purchasing materials to maintain inventory. The position also involves supervising graffiti removal, performing carpentry work for other departments, assisting co-workers, and managing personnel through hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, and discipline.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year’s of experience in a related field.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Class “B” CDL (Within 12-Months of Hire)
  • Certified Pool Operators License (Within 12-Months of Hire)
  • NRPA Certified Playground Safety Inspector License (Within 18-Months of Hire)
  • Knowledge of park construction and building and ground maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of park facilities operation and maintenance, including swimming pools, amusement rides, and athletic fields.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
  • Skill in the interpretation and application of federal, state, and local policies, codes, and laws.
  • Skill in the supervision of personnel.
  • Skill in analyzing problems and identifying solutions.
  • Skill in preparing clear and accurate reports.
  • Skill in establishing cooperative and productive working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the installation of park structures such as playground equipment, benches, piers, shelters, and gazebos.
  • Performs daily inspections of swimming pool water quality and equipment, including pumps, chlorinators, and filters; supervises the adding of chemicals and the cleaning of pool floors.
  • Inspects and maintains buildings, including park bathrooms, Community Center buildings, and other park related facilities; supervises and performs minor plumbing work on bathrooms and park water fountains.
  • Documents daily work activities: records employee work hours, materials, and equipment used; processes paperwork; calculates prices of jobs and quantities of materials; purchases materials to maintain supplies and inventory needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Supervises the removal of graffiti from park structures, benches, sidewalks, and basketball and tennis courts.
  • Performs skill master carpentry jobs for other departments.
  • Assists co-workers with manpower and equipment as needed.
  • Hires, trains, directs, schedules, assigns, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
