About The Position

Under the immediate supervision of a Parks Supervisor, Foreman or a Crew leader performs skilled and semi-skilled work related to maintenance and renovation of parks and recreation facilities, grounds, pathways, and landscape. Emergency Response Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situations and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, lawn edgers, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, vehicles up to 26000 GVWR, various hand and job-related power tools.
  • Entry level knowledge of construction, carpentry work, and landscape installation/maintenance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening, pass background check, and eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of parks, pools, grounds, restrooms and sport fields e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing, seeding, pruning, planting, and/ or removing weeds, trees and shrubs, clearing right-of-way areas and drainage with appropriate equipment.
  • Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment and other miscellaneous items as needed.
  • Gather and dispose of debris, wood, trash, limbs, weeds, grass, trees, shrubs, plants and dead animals.
  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, sod cutters, chainsaws, tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, forklifts, and other various hand and job-related power tools.
  • Participates in emergency response teams.
  • Handle general repairs by addressing issues such as plumbing leaks, electrical malfunctions, HVAC problem and structural repairs.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, diagnose problems, and identify the root causes of equipment or system failures, and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing.
  • Keep track of maintenance schedules and update relevant documentation.
