About The Position

Vermont State Parks seeks an energetic, outgoing, positive individual to join our parks team to lead the facilities management and infrastructure program for 17 parks in the Northeastern region of the state. This position works throughout the Waterbury Area, Groton State Forest and the Northeast Kingdom. The ideal candidate is passionate about Parks and Outdoor Recreation, and understands the critical role that facilities and maintenance have in ensuring the best possible visitor experience. A thorough understanding of facility management, contracting, and personnel management is preferred. This position requires an excellent manager with strong communication and collaboration skills who thrives in a fast-paced service-oriented environment. This is an advanced facilities and maintenance position responsible for all major facility improvements and upgrades; maintenance and repair work; preventative maintenance scheduling; and supervision, training and evaluation of the five regional maintenance staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher AND three (3) years or more of work experience of any combination in park maintenance, building or other structure construction and maintenance, trail construction and maintenance, or project coordination or supervision, INCLUDING three (3) years or more of supervisory experience.
  • OR Two years of full-time college coursework or an associate's degree AND five (5) years or more of work experience of any combination in park maintenance, building or other structure construction and maintenance, trail construction and maintenance, or project coordination or supervision, INCLUDING three (3) years or more of supervisory experience.
  • OR High school diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years or more of experience of any combination in park maintenance, building or other structure construction and maintenance, trail construction and maintenance, or project coordination or supervision, INCLUDING three (3) years or more of supervisory experience.
  • A valid driver's license is required for travel to work sites.
