About The Position

The City of Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated, talented, and experienced individual to fill the role of Parks & Recreation Superintendent. This position works with the Parks & Recreation Director to oversee operations and management of the following: community arts center / theater, golf courses, large community events, aquatic center, historical mansion, fishing and boating lake, multi-site concessions, and other recreational programs and services. This position will require some weekend and evening work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Leisure Studies or related field.
Two years of professional experience in the recreation/leisure field, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory position.
Strong leadership and managerial skills, effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and creativity.
Valid driver’s license.
Must pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.

Nice To Haves

Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, supervise, and train full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff across multiple divisions
Create, deliver, market and manage programs, activities, events
Budget management
Data collection, analysis and reporting
Maintenance of recreational facilities and systems
Risk management of department operations
Assist with department strategic planning, CAPRA re-certification, Capital Improvement Program, and construction projects.
Work with various boards and commissions
Coordinate with other City Departments
Other duties as assigned
