About The Position

Performs daily maintenance tasks that assist the Parks Department personnel with the maintenance and repairs of the park athletic fields and facilities. This is a temporary/seasonal position for the summer months only, from May 2026 through August 2026, with the possibility of up to 40 hours per week.

Requirements

• Valid Texas driver's license required
• Must be at least 17 years of age to be considered to handle small equipment
• Must be at least 18 years of age to operate larger equipment or operate a motor vehicle for City of Brenham business
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
• Ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical activity
• Ability to work with tools and equipment
• Ability to drive vehicles or equipment
• Ability to perform repetitive motions
• Ability to perform work involving the entire body
• Ability to stand, walk, and balance on all types of surfaces
• Ability to bend from the waist, crouch or squat, kneel, sit, crawl, climb, twist, and reach with arms and hands
• Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds
• Ability to carry, push, and pull materials
• Ability to see clearly, with or without vision correction, in close situations, at a distance, and peripherally, and be able to adjust focus
• Exercise caution at all times and adhere to safety standards
• Ability to work under time pressures to meet deadlines
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work closely with others as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Maintains and prepares parks and athletic fields for public use
• Operates lawn equipment
• Repairs and replaces vital facility sports equipment, including nets, batting cages, and wind screens
• Assists other city departments as needed
• Maintains and cleans park grounds on a weekend basis such as cleaning public restrooms and removing litter
