About The Position

Provides specialized care for the parks, right-of-ways, and building grounds of the City of St. George. This role involves maintaining and repairing various park features, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, and assisting with special events. The position requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and moderate physical activity.

Requirements

• Possess a valid driver license.
• A valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment.
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and techniques used in maintenance, repair, and/or construction of landscapes, irrigation systems, and hardscapes which may include basic construction projects.
• Knowledge of standard safety precautions.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, and understand and follow general work instructions.
• Ability to perform outdoor manual labor for extended periods of time.
• Ability to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Nice To Haves

• Small engine (gas and electric) repair preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned parks, trails, recreation areas, and facilities performing maintenance and repairs to assure proper functioning of equipment.
• Maintains, cleans, repairs, and paints pavilions, playgrounds, restrooms, picnic tables, barbeques, and other park features.
• Irrigates, mows, and plants turf.
• Plants and prunes trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Operates tractors, gang mowers, rotary mowers, and other power equipment incidental to job.
• Performs preventative maintenance and checks on power equipment used.
• Assists with set up and take down for special events, such as the St. George Marathon.
• Performs other related duties as required.
