About The Position

This is an INTERNAL ONLY posting for current City of Springfield employees. The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is seeking a Parks Maintenance Supervisor to lead a large staff dedicated to construction management processes including maintenance, construction and repair work on various parks and facilities. These include parks, trails, fitness centers, pools, athletic complexes, and more; as well as scheduling to support activities and events at these locations. The normal office days are primarily Monday-Friday; with evening and weekend work required frequently for special events, projects and staffing needs. The Springfield-Greene County Park strives to provide the very best in parks and recreation facilities, programs, events, and services to our community. In doing so, we will make a positive impact on the overall quality of life, health, environmental, social, and economic aspects for our resident families and visitors alike. The Park Board includes 3,200 acres and 105 sites, ranging from neighborhood playgrounds to multi-use recreational facilities to natural resource areas. The system includes four golf courses, three family centers, a zoo, a farm park, botanical gardens, several sports and athletic complexes, two indoor aquatics centers, six outdoor swimming pools, multiple School-Park sites and more than 100 miles of recreational trails -- including 70 miles of Greenways.

Requirements

  • A minimum of four years of responsible experience in one of the following areas (depending on program area assignment): Construction and repair of buildings and facilities including experience in HVAC, plumbing, concrete and electrical work; Turf management including the utilization of agronomy methods and techniques; Second shift operations work involving park facilities.
  • At least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience must be commensurate with division specialty as required for current vacancy.
  • Proof of United States Citizenship/Authorization to Work in the United States as established by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 is a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment drug testing is required.
