About The Position

The Parks & Facilities Technician I - Limited is responsible for performing entry level custodial and semi-skilled labor activities related to the maintenance, repair, and restoration of parks, park amenities, facilities, and structures while training on the methods and techniques. This position has a 4-day work week, 10-hour days (7:00am - 5:30pm), Sunday - Wednesday, and (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), Wednesday - Saturday. Must have flexibility to work weekends and holidays. The job involves traveling from site to site as needed. This position is limited and anticipated to end in December 2026.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Pre-employment physical is a condition of hire.
  • Must have current CPR certification or be able to obtain CPR certification within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Criminal History and MVR Background Checks are required for every position.
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
  • Offer of employment contingent upon successful completion of criminal history, motor vehicle report, education verification, and/or references.

  • One or more years of prior janitorial or building maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Train and assist with the maintenance, upkeep, repair and improvement of parks and park, amenities, facilities, structures, fencing, and storm water drainage solutions.
  • Performs fence and boundary maintenance.
  • May perform snow removal activities.
  • Train in and perform custodian duties including cleaning and restocking of public restrooms, removal of bags from trash collecting receptacles, cleaning grills, safe removal of hot ash, and picking up litter on park grounds.
  • Participate in conducting regularly scheduled maintenance.
  • Participate in public outreach and educational events and programs.
  • Answers visitor questions and provide information about park rules, safety, and resources.
  • Train and assist with the maintenance, repair and construction of parking lots, parking surfaces and roadways made of asphalt, natural surface, gravel and permeable pavers including grading, crack sealing, lot grooming, lot striping, and asphalt patches.
  • Install, maintain and repair parking stops, parking lot delineators, and signage.
  • Assist and train in the maintenance of trees, grasses, and weeds near trailheads, amenities, facilities, and park structures for safety and aesthetics.
  • Assist with tree trimming and removal activities.
  • Train in the application of herbicides and pesticides.
  • Train in the operation of light and medium equipment including weed trimer, mowers, and chain saw.
  • Trains in the operation of a backhoe, skid steer, and similar vehicles.
  • Perform equipment and vehicle pre and post use inspections.
  • Train and assist with in-field repairs on equipment.
  • Train in the use of hand and power tools, and light equipment including weed trimmer, mowers, and chain saws.
  • May operate a pickup truck.
  • Train and assist with equipment and vehicle pre and post use inspections.
  • Interact with the public and vendors through effective oral, written and electronic means.
  • Act as a reference for park users.
  • Contact and maintain correspondence with utility locators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
