Parks Crew Member
About The Position
This position maintains and repairs City property, including, but not limited to, parks, City rights-of-way, Highway medians, playground equipment, mowers, tractors, and tools. This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Requirements
- Ability to read and understand instructions and directives given in English
- Ability to write simple work reports and other basic correspondence in English
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 months of relevant work experience may be substituted for education requirements
- Texas Class “C” Driver’s License
Nice To Haves
- Texas Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License
Responsibilities
- Receive oral and/or written work assignments from the superintendent
- Mow grass and trim weeds in City Parks and on other City Properties
- Clean and maintain landscaping and flower beds
- Paint interior and exterior walls, trim, fencing, etc.
- Perform minor repairs to City property – electrical, plumbing, etc.
- Repair and replace brick and/or cinder block walls and structures
- Form, reinforce, and pour concrete sidewalks, batting cages, foundations
- Perform routine maintenance on city vehicles and equipment
- Report to work free from the effects of illegal drugs or alcohol and free from impairment due to prescription drugs.
- Maintain regular attendance as scheduled
- Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations
- Report all accidents and incidents to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner
- Operate dangerous equipment including tractors and backhoes
- Operate riding mower on City and State Highway Right-of-Ways
- Regular attendance is required
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
