About The Position

Responsible for assisting the Labor Center Managers in the parks maintenance functions and any parks projects which are needed to keep all park areas and buildings clean, safe and in proper working order; assists with parks events and summer programs.

Requirements

Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of safety procedures.
Skill in the operation of the listed tools and equipment.
At least one (1) year of experience performing manual labor; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and supervisors
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to react calmly to emergency situations.
Must be at least Sixteen (16) years of age.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties in the day-to-day operation of the Labor Center such as answering phone, responding to public inquiries, assisting with special events and summer programs; cleaning and maintenance of buildings and park areas.
Enforces rules of the Center to maintain order and safe conditions.
Monitors splash pad; enforces safety rules.
Assists in the implementation of activities at Labor Center.
Sweeps, mops, buffs, waxes and paints floors, as needed; dusts furniture and equipment.
Empties ash cans and trash barrels located on park grounds, parking lots, and inside center; relines cans with liners.
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; cleans spills; cleans drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, etc.
Washes windows, walls, metal and woodwork.
Prepares facilities for program use.
Sweeps, rakes and picks up debris within park grounds and parking lots.
Cleans and sweeps sidewalks.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Performs any other related duties required or assigned.
