About The Position

The purpose of this position is to oversee day-to-day operations of daily athletic operations. This is primarily accomplished by assessing and managing of the athletic facilities and programs. The role involves managing and operating seasonal facilities and specialized athletic programs, supervising staff, managing youth and adult sports programs, assisting with facility and program registration, preparing program descriptions for marketing, and managing operating budgets.

  • Possession of or ability to obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) & First Aid Certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification within twelve (12) months from date of hire.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and operates seasonal facilities including Lake Fisher and McInnis Aquatic Center and specialized Athletic programs such as Tennis, Golf, Pickleball, Cricket, etc.
  • Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Manages and supervises all Youth Sports and Adult Sports programs, including program development, scheduling, and recruitment of volunteers.
  • Assists with facility registration, enrollment of program participants, and walk in registration for Youth Sports, Adult Sports programs, Aquatic programs, specialized programs and Athletic based camps.
  • Prepares Youth Sports, Adult Sports, Road Race, Aquatic and fishing program descriptions for marketing in Leisure Times, website and social media.
  • Prepares, oversees, forecasts, and manages the operating budgets of programs, handles daily deposits, and assists with the development and annual review of athletic division budget line.
  • Manages seasonal staff for facilities such as McInnis Aquatic Center and Lake Fisher.
  • Performs other similar duties as required.
