About The Position

The IBP Ice Center is hiring Parks & Rec Specialists starting this fall! This position will oversee the operations of IBP Ice Center during hockey games, private ice rentals, and weekly public skating. We will provide training on operation of the Zamboni to clean the ice, ensure the facility is clean, oversee the concession stand and staff safety. Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to create, organize, and maintain accurate records and follow prescribed cash handling procedures; ability to coordinate personnel and programs; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the guests and staff; ability to communicate with guests, supervisors, and co-workers in a positive, friendly manner both orally and in written form; ability to be diplomatic and pleasant under stressful conditions; ability to identify and understand the speech of another person; ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Thorough knowledge of the equipment and techniques necessary to successfully oversee all facets of the facility; knowledge of first aid methods and necessary safety precautions to be used in public work; ability to coordinate multiple events and multi-task; knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words and rules of composition and grammar.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to provide assistance to customers (external and internal); ability to write and speak clearly, distinctly and effectively with fellow employees and the general public as to understand; ability to read in English and compare similarities and differences between words and series of numbers; ability to issue, and follow, verbal and written instructions; ability to work as a member of a team in order to accomplish tasks; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.
  • Graduation from High School; must be 18 years of age or older and one (1) year of related work experience in recreation, supervision of staff, or building maintenance experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service and engages in public relations duties.
  • Compiles and/or completes reports, such as incident, injury, routine financial, and scheduling.
  • Supervises and provides direction to assigned staff; logs/verifies payroll hours.
  • Works with the community to promote an understanding of the facility and goodwill toward the facility.
  • Works with the public and supervises public and private-party participants.
  • Sets up and takes down chairs, tables and recreational equipment.
  • Performs basic cleaning and maintenance including restrooms, trash removal, dry and wet mop, snow removal/ salting, and litter patrol.
  • Cleans, re-stocks and maintains floors and rugs using appropriate machinery.
  • Leads team in performing minor equipment repairs, maintaining glass surfaces, and completing painting task as required.
  • Leads a team in storing, preparing, and serving food products and refreshments in a manner that meets all local and state health code requirements as well as facility rules and guidelines.
  • Acts as a resource within the facility for their designated specialty providing guidance to other Parks and Recreation staff, user groups, and volunteers.
  • Trains volunteers as necessary to satisfactorily carry out the specialty program involved.
  • Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the position as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance and working hours.
  • Expected to temporarily perform duties outside of normal classification in the event of a declared emergency.
  • In the event that an employee is excused from work other than being sick, they will be required to report to work in a state of declared emergency.
