The Municipality of Grey Highlands is seeking a Casual Seasonal Parks and Recreation Attendant. Requirements

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a customer service role.
  • Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Valid G Driver’s License.
  • A working understanding of all applicable legislation, by-laws, and policies related to recreational operations and hazardous waste, chemicals and materials.
  • Working knowledge of the skilled operation of similar heavy equipment and machinery and ability to make minor adjustments and repairs on equipment used.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment and initiative when dealing with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to provide timely and courteous customer service.
  • Good judgment and initiative and the ability to follow directions.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the ice surface, operating ice resurfacing machinery (training will be provided).
  • Acting as a front-line contact for the public, explaining rules, providing direction, and answering questions.
  • Performing general operational and administrative duties such as opening and closing facilities, setting up and taking down for events and rentals, and maintaining daily logs.
  • Conducting general cleaning and maintenance duties in various areas of the facility, including hallways, entrances, lobby, dressing rooms, and washrooms.
  • Ensuring the ice surface, machinery, and tools are in good condition, including monitoring refrigeration equipment (temperatures, pressures, water chemical levels) and changing ice resurfacing blades and propane tanks.
  • Taking reasonable precautions to mitigate risks and ensure a safe environment for staff and the public.
  • Working safely in compliance with the law and safe work practices, including understanding and following standard operating procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, using MSDS information, and ensuring guards are in place.
  • Immediately reporting unsafe acts, conditions, or contraventions of the OHSA to a supervisor, JHSC, or Health & Safety representative.
  • Reporting and recording maintenance needs or repairs to the team leader or manager, and assisting with maintenance as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned in accordance with corporate objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with Council, staff, and the public.
  • Complying with all office procedures.
  • Attending meetings as required.
  • Participating in the resolution of delivery service issues.
  • Communicating ideas, suggestions, and procedural changes that may assist the organization.
  • Assisting where and when needed during staff shortages and/or emergency situations.
  • Responding to public inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Working safely within the law and safe work practices/procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly work area and avoiding any unsafe or disruptive behavior.
  • Completing all assigned health and safety training and taking the health and safety of themselves and others seriously.
