About The Position

Under general supervision, Parking Service Officers (PSOs) work collaboratively with full-time Parking Officers to enforce campus parking regulations and provide assistance to the University community and visitors. PSOs play a key role in supporting daily parking operations across university parking lots and structures and are expected to perform all duties with professionalism, efficiency, and integrity.

Requirements

• Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
• Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
• In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
• Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to observe and analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action.
• Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including in inclement weather.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift traffic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license (Class C minimum).
• Must have at least six (6) months of active driving experience.

Nice To Haves

• Customer service experience preferred.
• First-year and second-year class standings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol University parking facilities and issue parking citations for violations of University parking and traffic regulations and/or the California Vehicle Code.
• Enforce regulations related to disabled parking spaces and identify misuse of DMV disabled person placards.
• Recover lost or stolen parking permits.
• Immobilize vehicles with five (5) or more delinquent parking violations.
• Provide assistance within university parking facilities, including jump-starting vehicles.
• Escort emergency vehicles as needed.
• Respond to and assist during emergency situations.
• Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors by providing directions and parking-related information.
• Observe and report incidents, safety concerns, and suspicious activity to University Police.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
