About The Position

The Parking Officer is responsible for ensuring the proper display of employee decals, taking enforcement action when necessary, and maintaining the parking facilities. This role involves preparing daily shift reports, handling cash transactions, performing minor equipment repairs, and providing courteous service to the public. The position requires the ability to patrol parking areas, manage equipment, and handle customer interactions effectively, including in stressful situations.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new equipment.
  • Ability to use a calculator, ticket dispensing equipment, cash register, and portable radio.
  • Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity.
  • Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio.
  • Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds.
  • Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly.
  • Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres, outdoor temperatures, and noxious odors.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self-directed to complete jobs as ordered.
  • Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations.
  • Must be able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously.
  • Must be able to assist co-workers in multiple overlapping tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to prioritize job tasks and organize workspace to be efficient and conducive to completing work tasks as assigned in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily shifts cash reports, count money and make change.
  • Perform minor ticket dispensing equipment and gate arm repair for normal operation.
  • Check ticket dispensing equipment and add tickets as necessary.
  • Patrol parking decks and lots by foot and mobile patrol to ensure employees have decal permits displayed on vehicles and take enforcement action when necessary for compliance.
  • Maintain the booth and surrounding area in a neat and clean manner.
  • Calculate parking fees manually and apply complimentary passes when requested in the event fee computers or other automated calculating devices are inoperable.
  • Greet the public with courtesy and respect and maintain composure with difficult customers.
