About The Position

Join Our Team as a Parking Maintenance Worker! Are you someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in keeping facilities running smoothly? We’re looking for a dedicated individual to perform a variety of physical tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of our parking facilities. In this role, you’ll work independently on routine tasks or as part of a team under the guidance of the Parking Maintenance Leadworker and Parking Field Operations Supervisors. Your responsibilities will include minor repairs in electrical, plumbing, heating systems, concrete, metalwork, parking meters, and carpentry. You’ll also handle preventive equipment maintenance and grounds upkeep, including snow removal. Movement to a Parking Maintenance Worker 2 is not automatic but rather depends on budgeted vacancies and the needs of the Utility and is normally accomplished through competition.

Requirements

  • Experience performing facility maintenance, repairs, or custodial work in a hands-on environment.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles used for maintenance, snow removal, and groundskeeping.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and respond to maintenance and safety issues.
  • Dependable team player who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and functional facilities while providing excellent customer service.
  • Two (2) years experience in applying the following: Plumbing, heating, electrical, construction, concrete, carpentry and metal repair work; AND Familiarity with the following: Tools and techniques used in parking facility cleaning, maintenance, repair and construction.
  • Familiarity with computer software applicable to the duties of the position.
  • Familiarity with operating a motor vehicle, including light trucks, skid-steer loaders, utility vehicles, tractors, and forklifts.
  • Two (2) years of experience performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, repair and construction work.
  • One (1) year of experience performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, repair and construction work AND; Technical degree in industrial/building maintenance or a closely related field.
  • Associate's degree or higher in industrial/building maintenance or a closely related field.
  • Other equivalent combinations of experience, training, and education that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with multicultural communities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and objects weighing up to 100 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend and stoop for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and Maintain Parking Facilities
  • Inspect parking facilities for safety, vandalism and maintenance issues.
  • Procure supplies and maintain inventories.
  • Perform janitorial services to facility offices, bathrooms, store rooms, elevators, stair towers and grounds.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on and testing to equipment.
  • Perform minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, metal and concrete repairs.
  • Install, remove and inventory facility signage.
  • Complete work order assignments.
  • Snow Removal/Landscape Maintenance
  • Remove snow and ice when required to provide for safer facilities during and after inclement weather.
  • Mow and trim lawns.
  • Weed and maintain plantings in landscape beds.
  • Miscellaneous
  • Issue parking violation citations and fill in for parking cashiers as necessary.
  • Conduct vacancy counts.
  • Use electronic equipment such as computers (desktop, laptop, tablet), smart phones and multi-meters.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance, daily work, inventory and parking enforcement records.
  • Oversee the work of seasonal staff as required.
  • Make repairs to single and multi-space parking meter equipment as requested.
  • Operate vehicles such as light trucks, skid-steer loaders, utility vehicles, tractors and forklifts.
  • Operate various hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
