About The Position

The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. This position is a permanent full-time state position located at Camp Rilea in Warrenton, Oregon. This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union. This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur. Requirements

  • An associates degree in landscape technology, horticulture, turf management or closely related field AND Six (6) months of landscape experience.
  • OR Two (2) years of landscape experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record or have reliable alternate mode of transportation.
  • Must have and maintain a favorable Criminal background History check and be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Suitability Determination (T1).
  • Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S without a visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains roads and grounds, including turf management for mowing of lawns, fields and training areas.
  • Performs irrigation activities.
  • Conducts fertilization and pesticide functions.
  • Maintains flower beds and performs pruning activities.
  • Performs roadway maintenance using tractors, mowers, blowers, weed eaters, brush cutters, chain saws, garden tools, etc.
  • Operates motor vehicles, tractors, mowers, man lifts, backhoes and forklifts.
