About The Position

Under general supervision, the Parking Maintenance Technician II performs custodial, maintenance, repair, and equipment operation tasks and related duties as required. Provides excellent customer service and adheres to the city’s values. This position works Sunday thru Tuesday 11am to 7pm.

Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of modern building systems including HVAC and Fire and Life Safety Systems

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Have and maintain acceptable background information to obtain and maintain CJIS Certification, including criminal conviction history.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • As a current City of Boulder employee, have and maintain current OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Course Training; or, as a non-current employee, the ability to obtain this certification within six (6) months.
  • As a current City of Boulder employee, have and maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification; or, as a non-current employee, the ability to obtain this certification within six (6) months.
  • As a current City of Boulder employee, have and maintain current Occupational Safety and Health: Blood-Borne Pathogens; or, as a non-current employee, the ability to obtain this certification within six (6) months.
  • Two (2) years of previous work experience with general building maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to demonstrate experience working with fire alarm, fire sprinkler, lighting, electrical, elevator, dewatering, irrigation and/or other systems associated with parking structures
  • Ability and experience performing a wide range of technical, mechanical, physical and manual tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks in commercial buildings
  • Knowledge and experience working in urban environment or high visitor use areas
  • Skidsteer Certification
  • Forklift Certification
  • Two (2) years of previous work experience with parking structure maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs city parking lots, structures, facilities, properties, and right-of-way amenities such as bike racks, benches and trash cans.
  • Includes tasks such as trash, graffiti and snow removal; painting; signage installation; sweeping; other tasks as needed.
  • Monitors and tests electrical, elevators, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, dewatering and all other systems associated with the general operation of parking structures.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials and equipment used.
  • Remains alert to conditions and events occurring in the business districts.
  • Identifies anticipated repairs and reports problems to supervisor or lead.
  • Utilizes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents.
  • Reports all accidents and damage to city property to supervisor.
  • Serves as the point person for maintenance-related projects as requested.
  • Assist in the training new technicians in field operations and administrative procedures as requested.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, an adjusted schedule, evenings, weekends, holidays, emergencies and/or snow shifts as required.
