About The Position

This role involves enforcing Fort Wayne City Code Statutes and issuing citations to vehicles parked in violation of these statutes. The Parking Control Officer will also assist with the enforcement of applicable laws and City policies related to residential parking and abandoned vehicle code infractions. This position requires interaction with the public, which may sometimes be confrontational. Errors in judgment can lead to significant inconveniences and costs for the City, vehicle owners, and the public.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • At least one year's experience dealing with the public daily

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Indiana Driver's License
  • Basic knowledge of municipal codes relating to city parking, abandoned vehicle and residential parking

Responsibilities

  • Enforce parking codes on city streets, shopping centers, and residential areas
  • Issues informational warnings and citations as necessary
  • Receive and respond to citizen complaints concerning abandoned vehicles and issues tickets as necessary
  • Collect money from meters when necessary
  • Pick up stolen bicycles and transport them to storage
  • Attend court hearings and give testimony for cases involving citizen dispute of violations
  • Post "No Parking" signs and bags meters as assigned in downtown as well as neighborhoods
