About The Position

Patrols designated areas of the city to enforce parking laws and ordinances.

Requirements

• Appointment to the position by the Traffic Investigations Commander
• Must have working knowledge of the geography of the city and locations of various private and public facilities and the location of streets
• Must have knowledge of traffic and parking ordinances and laws
• Must have elementary knowledge of simple mathematics
• Must be able to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
• Must be in physical condition to be able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions
• Must be able to prepare and maintain simple records
• Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with staff, fellow workers, and the general public

Responsibilities

• Issues tickets for parking violations
• Dispenses information to the general public regarding street directions, private and public facilities, etc.
• Explains parking regulations to citizens as needed
• Performs task of school crossing guard on a relief basis
• Performs various clerical and matron duties as required
• Performs other duties as assigned by competent authority
