About The Position

Under management supervision, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations. - This position will serve as a potential, interpretative speaker, and park office administrator.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.
  • Some positions may require certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, Grade 1 Water Distribution Systems Operator, and/or Certified Interpretive Guide,First Aide CPR.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience equivalent to a Park Ranger, OR three years of work experience in customer service and maintenance in park related setting; OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet knowledge, skills, abilities may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Train, mentor, and supervise park staff and volunteers to ensure high performance, professionalism, and adherence to park standards.
  • Ensure the safety of staff and visitors by enforcing safety protocols, responding to incidents, and proactively identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Support positive visitor experiences by providing information, resolving issues, and ensuring a welcoming and inclusive park environment.
  • Interpret, communicate, and enforce park rules, policies, and procedures while educating staff and the public to promote compliance and understanding.
  • Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop; collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.
  • Process refunds, take camping and event reservations via phone.
  • Prepare and process bank deposits, maintain accurate financial records, and complete weekly deposit reports in accordance with administrative procedures.
  • Order, track, and manage supplies and equipment to ensure operational needs are met efficiently and within budget.
  • Promote the safety of park visitors, educate guests and enforce park rules, protect park resources, utilize two-way radio communications system, confers with local officials and law enforcement officers, completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.
  • Promotes and educates guests on safe recreation practices and recreational opportunities in the park.
  • Deliver ongoing training for staff and volunteers on safety procedures, park operations, customer service, and equipment use
  • Collaborate, foster, and maintain a positive relationship with visitors, guests, stakeholders, and partners on behalf of the park.
  • Ensures volunteers are trained on proper park procedures and rules.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing park events and programs to ensure smooth operations and positive visitor experiences.
  • Assign, monitor, and ensure completion of maintenance projects by staff in a timely and effective manner, maintaining park facilities and grounds to required standards.
  • Deliver ongoing training for staff and volunteers on safety procedures, park operations, and equipment use
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
