About The Position

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) seeks applicants for a Park Ranger Mounted Unit Intern (Unpaid Contracted Student Interns) for the 2026 Fall Semester to perform various duties on a part-time basis. This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Candidates may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) aims to protect, preserve, and enhance Massachusetts’ environmental resources and create a clean energy future. DCR oversees nearly half a million acres of land, focusing on nurturing the connection between people and the environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a student or recent graduate seeking practical experience.
  • May be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university.
  • Per school requirements, to be further discussed with unity supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Lungeing and round penning, along with natural horsemanship.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 (excel, Word, power point, publisher, etc.) and Acrobat Pro.

Responsibilities

  • Mucking, bedding, grooming, clipping, sheath cleaning, picking paddocks, tack cleaning.
  • Assist with park special events, programs and stable tours that need equine assistants.
  • Perform filling, data entry, etc. to keep the organization running.
  • Utilize office skills in various areas.
