About The Position

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking a Park Ranger Maintenance to join their team at Kiptopeke State Park. This role is responsible for maintaining park facilities and grounds, including mowing, landscaping, tree work, and trail upkeep. The position also involves basic construction and maintenance trades, vehicle maintenance, and computer proficiency. The DCR is dedicated to conserving the natural, scenic, historic, and cultural resources of the Commonwealth and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading, directing, and training by staff and volunteers.
  • Experience in evaluating work performed by others.
  • Experience using a variety of tools, materials and equipment to maintain park facilities and grounds to include mowing, landscaping, tree work, and upkeep on trails.
  • Knowledge of basic construction and maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and masonry.
  • Experience in vehicle maintenance, including small/large engine repair and hydraulic systems repair.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, guests, and preparing correspondence/reports.
  • Experience using computers and software applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
