This position is a Park Ranger Individual Placement with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) at the Grants Field Station/El Malpais Ranger Station, working with the Rio Puerco Field Office (RPFO). The role involves stewarding public lands and providing meaningful job experience for young professionals. The intern will work with BLM Staff, gaining mentorship in Recreation and Visitor Services, Youth, and Interpretation programs. Opportunities include trail maintenance, kiosk development, route designations, interpretation, and Recreation Area Management Plan development. Interns may also gain experience in grant writing and budgeting. Cross-training with other BLM programs like wildlife, range, and forestry is available to understand the agency's Multiple Use Sustained Yield Mandate. Administrative duties include data collection, report writing, and communication with BLM and RMYC staff. This position is managed through RMYC and includes regular check-ins and life skills training, with additional training opportunities provided by the host program or external sources. As an AmeriCorps member, the individual will not serve in any supervising or staff roles.
