Your New Role: As a permanent full-time Park Ranger 2 , at Lake Owyhee State Park , you will perform, conduct and oversee a variety of tasks in order to protect, maintain, operate and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems by using skills in building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance, as well as specialized program skills (e.g.: resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, park rule enforcement, etc.) related to the maintenance and operations of agency programs, and properties within the Farewell Bend Management Unit. In this position, you’ll be working in a remote oasis on the eastern edge of Oregon that boasts of deep canyon walls brimming with colorful, volcanic rock formations. Requirements

Four years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
OR An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies AND 2.5 years of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
OR A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies AND 1 year of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
Criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment.
Maintain a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Experience directing park operations, including campground registration systems, and enforcing park rules in a public setting.
Experience performing and overseeing facility and utility maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, grounds‑keeping, and operation of surface water and sewer systems.
Experience safely using maintenance tools, materials, heavy equipment, and operating motorized watercraft such as jetboats and prop‑boats.
Knowledge and experience in both park resource management and facility operations to support safe, functional, and sustainable park environments.
Experience providing direction to teams, volunteers, and correctional work crews to accomplish varied tasks and meet operational goals.
Experience preparing written reports and summaries, performing data entry, and using computers for basic administrative tasks.
Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

Protect, maintain, operate and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems.
