The Nevada Division of State Parks is seeking to fill a Park Ranger 2 position, underfilling for a Park Supervisor 2. This role is responsible for the management of Cathedral Gorge State Park and the Regional Visitor Center near Panaca, and Beaver Dam State Park. Cathedral Gorge State Park is known for its dramatic clay spirals and features a 24/7 RV campground, hiking/mt. bike trails, and the Regional Visitor Center. Beaver Dam State Park offers primitive camping, scenic vistas, hiking/UTV trails, and stream fishing. Management duties include supervising permanent and seasonal employees, budget development and oversight, fee collection and safeguarding, overall maintenance and operations, and employee performance evaluations. The incumbent will make decisions regarding resources, facility maintenance, equipment, and materials. This is a commissioned (Law Enforcement) position with public safety responsibilities, requiring work during various hours, shifts, holidays, and weekends in diverse weather conditions. Park residency at the specified location is mandatory. Successful candidates not currently NV POST certified must complete a NV POST approved Category 1 Peace Officer Academy, with costs covered by the agency. Park Rangers (Commissioned) engage in operations, law enforcement, resource management, interpretation, and maintenance activities.
